GENERAL CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS
 
1.                  The Competition is open to West Indian and Caribbean teenage girls between the ages of 13 to 18, who will not be 19 on or before the day of the show.
 
2.                  Any Contestant whose age does not conform to the stipulated age limit will be immediately disqualified from the Competition, and all prizes, gifts, positions etc., held by such a contestant will be reclaimed by the Organizing Committee.
 
3.                  The Contestant must be single, never married or divorced, not hold a criminal record, nor have children.
 
4.                  The Contestant is required to participate in all activities of the Contest, and must always be on time according to the official schedule. Failure to attend may result in sending the Contestant and Chaperone back to their respective Island/Country.
 
5.                  Each Contestant will make four (4) appearances on the night of the Competition: i.e. Production Number, Ambassadorial Appearance, Performing Talent, Evening Wear/Stage Interview.
 
6.                  The Contestant must also provide personal toiletries, medications, etc. needed during her stay in St. Kitts. We suggest that she bring these items with her.
 
7.                  No Contestant shall be allowed to compete in more than one Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Show.
 
8.                  The winner of the Pageant must, during her reign, first inform and obtain the consent of the organizers to participate in any other pageant or competition including public photo sessions.
 
9.                  The Franchise holder is responsible for procuring or purchasing the airline tickets for contestant and chaperone.
  
10.       The official Application and Talent information form must be signed by Contestant and Chaperone/Franchise holder, and will represent a legal obligation to the organizers, according to the Rules and Regulations of the Pageant/Contest.
 
11.              No contest winner shall use the contest title without the written permission of the contests organizers.
 
12.       Each Contestant gives permission to the contest, the Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen, and its licensees, the television production company, and its stations sponsors and public representatives of all concerned, the use of her photographic likeness, voice and service, a gratis in connection with the contest, including any subsequent recorded or timed excerpts of the contest for commercial purposes.
 
13.       Each Contestant agrees that any conduct on her part at any time, which in the eye of any member of the organizing Committee and Franchise holder will discredit the good image of the contest shall result in the contestant’s immediate dismissal from all contest activities, and forfeiture of all rights, titles, fees and gifts connected thereto.
 
14.      Each Contestant hereby releases the contest, the Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant, the sponsoring organization and their assigns, and the television production company from any activities of any and all claims for damages or injuries which may be sustained while participating in any activities of any contest or during her reign as the winner or first runner up.
 
15.       Contestants should be ready within twenty (20) minutes or according to the schedule of the official programme, after exiting the stage from a previous appearance. Failure to comply will lead to contestants being penalized.
 
16.       Only Contestants, and one (1) Chaperone and one (1) Assistant per Contestant will be allowed in the Dressing Room. Passes will be issued to Chaperones and Assistants and must be displayed in order to allow admission into the Dressing Room. Names of relevant persons should be supplied.
 
 
PRACTICAL AND LOGISTIC INFORMATION

 Outfits as well as speeches shall be checked before the night of the competition to assist Contestants in adhering to the rules and regulations.

 
 
ACCOMMODATION

The Haynes Smith Youth Club is responsible for accommodation, transportation, meals and entertainment for the Contestants and Chaperones ONLY.  FRANCHISE HOLDERS ARE ASKED TO PURCHASE THE AIRLINE TICKETS.  Any other person travelling with Contestants or Chaperones is responsible for his/her own expenses.

Telephone calls, both local and overseas, as well as the purchasing of items of a personal nature are the expenses of Contestants and Chaperones.

SOME IMPORTANT THINGS CONTESTANTS SHOULD BRING
 
Travel Iron or steamer              Pair of white sneakers
Hangers                                    Prescribed medicine (if necessary)
Rollers
 
 
CHAPERONE’S ROLE: It is the duty of the Chaperone to:-
 
1.                  See that the Contestant has proper garments, talent and other appropriate materials before leaving for St. Kitts
 
2.                  Bring along Country/Island NATIONAL FLAG.
 
3.                  See that the Contestant is on time for all events.
 
4.                  Administer discipline when necessary.
 
5.                  See that the Contestant gets proper rest.
 
6.                  Provide encouragement when spirit is low.

 

CLIMATE
 

Even though we are in the tropics, it gets a little chilly during the month of December, therefore it may be necessary to travel with sweater or jacket. Dress warmly for bed, because the hotel room may be cold.

 
PARENTS CO-OPERATION
 

If family vacations are planned around the Contest, we would be very grateful if parents would co-operate by not distracting Contestants from the itinerary with visits and outside activities. Parents should not remove Contestants from the hotel without the permission of the ‘Contestant Co-ordinator’, or Organizers.

 
SPECIAL REMINDERS
 
1.                  You are reminded to solicit gifts on behalf of your organization to make presentation during the gift exchange session. It is anticipated that ten (10) Countries/Islands will participate.
 
2.                  The official Application Form should be returned with a notarized Birth Certificate and 3 (three) 3 x 5 color head-photo of Contestant not wearing a crown, sash or graduation cap. This Form must be returned by 15th October, 2009.
 
3.                  You are also reminded to bring along your Country’s National Flag
(size approx. 24” x 36”).
 
4.         Any music to be used by the contestant must be recorded on a new CD, and must be the only song on that CD.
