In this appearance, the contestant will be acting as an Ambassador for her Country/Island. The contestant must speak of a matter of current interest that has developed over the past year or on any important event that take place in her country.

The time allocated for the speech is one (1) minute.

• Strong sense that speech was spontaneously delivered
• Speech was delivered within allotted time
• Information given should adequately highlight the contestant’s country
• There should be no grammatical errors
• There should be good sentence construction
• Speech should flow (use of good linking words and connecting phrases)
• Contestant should not forget speech or part(s) of it

Contestants are required to make a speech, thus no singing whatsoever is permitted.

Score as follows:
For 2 or less errors	score 7-10 pts
For 3 or 4 errors	score 4-6 pts
For 5 or more errors	score 0-3 pts

(B) NATURALNESS 15 POINTS

• Speech must be delivered with confidence
• Voice must not be pitched too high or too low
• There should be no excess use of body language nor should contestant use words that seem alien to her
• Delivery must be fluent

For 2 errors	score 7½-10½ pts
For 3 errors	score 4-7 pts
For 4 or more errors	score 0-3 pts

• Good control of breathing
• Good intonation
• Does not ignore important vowel and consonant cluster sounds

• Good posture/no slouching
• Contestant must not appear too focused on one spot/person
• There should be no pacing/shifting of legs or unwarranted stiffness
• Contestant should not open eyes too wide, nor seem to be squinting

For 1 error	score 4 pts
For 2 errors	score 3 pts
For 3 errors	score 2 pts
For 4 errors	score 1 pt

(E) ATTIRE 5 POINTS

• Good choice of a colour and accessories
• Good choice of material, including design, style and glamour
• Outfit should fit well
• Proper interpretation of the particular aspect of country in outfit, as well as uniqueness and originality of outfit/costume

Fair	score 2½ - 3 pts
Good	score 3½ - 4pts
Very Good	score 4½ - 5pt

For exceeding the time limit

• Over 1 minute a deduction of 2 pts.
• 15 seconds above allotted time a deduction of 5 pts.
• Up to 30 seconds above allotted time a deduction of 10 pts.
• Over a total of 1 minute 30 seconds a possibility of being disqualified from segment

A contestant may do one or more combinations of the following: sing, dance, recite, or dramatize. She may be an instrumentalist, magician or gymnast. No modeling or fire acts are allowed.

The performing talent is limited to four (4) minute or less.

• Contestant should be skilled in selected talent(s)
• Performance should be naturally delivered
• There should be no evidence of discomfort during performance

• Performance should not be a duplication of a talent presentation done in previous pageants by another contestant
• Performance must truly represent the theme or title

Fair	score 20 - 34½ pts
Good	score 35 - 45 pt
Very Good	score 46 - 55½ pt
Excellent	score 56 - 65 pts

For exceeding the limit

• Over 4 minutes a deduction of 5 pts.
• 15 seconds above allotted time a deduction of 10 pts.
• Up to 30 seconds above allotted time a deduction of 15 pts.
• Over a total of 4 minutes 30 seconds a possibility of being disqualified from segment

Please note that contestant will not be penalized, if there are unforeseen circumstances that caused delay to her performance.

Please note that the time allocated for the Evening Wear presentation is three (3) minutes.

(A) IMPACT 5 POINTS

• Dress should evoke a reaction of approval/admiration from its use of form and material
• Dress should be interesting/exciting
• Dress should not be easily recognizable as being presented in a previous pageant

For 3 errors	score 7½ - 10 ½ pts
For 4 errors	score 4 - 7 pts
For 5 errors	score 1 - 3 pts

TIE-BREAKER POLICY
The Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Committee has decided to introduce a tie- break policy for its upcoming shows. This policy shall apply to final placing positions and segment winners. The policy is outlined as follows:-

Final Placing Positions

1. There shall be no ties for any position, including the winning Queen position or any other segment;
2. If there is a tie for any final position, then the scored performance of the tied contestants in the most important part of the show (the section with the highest points) will be considered, and applied. If there is a clear winner in that segment for the contestants involved, then that contestant will be deemed the winner.
3. If there is a tie in points for that section, then the contestant with the majority of the judges scoring in her favor will be deemed the winner.
4. If there is still a tie among the judges, then the scores of remaining judges in that segment will be considered, and applied.
5. If there is still a tie, then the next most important segment in terms of points will be considered, and applied, and the same procedure as above (2-4) will be followed through to the least important segment of the show until a winner is determined.
6. If all of the above fails to separate the tied contestants, then the available judges will be asked to select the winner with the head judge having a casting vote in the event of a deadlock among the judges.

Segment Winners

1. If there is tie for the winner of a segment, then the contestant that has the most first positions in that segment on the judge’s score sheets will be deemed the winner.
2. If there is still a tie then the contestant with the most second -places on the score sheets in that segment will be deemed the winner.
3. If there is still a tie, the next position (third) through to the last position will be considered until a winner is determined.
4. If all of the above fails to separate the tied contestants, then the available judges for that segment will be asked to select the winner, with the head judge having a casting vote in the event of a deadlock among the judges.
